A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury caused by the brain forcefully hitting the skull. This can be caused by a blow to the head, a fall or a sudden jolt. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 5-10 percent of athletes experience a concussion each season.
